Keeping Track of MIPS 2025 Performance Year Deadline
Are you an MIPS 2025 eligible healthcare practitioner? Are you wondering about the MIPS reporting deadlines? If yes, this article will help you navigate through dates easily.
Of course, if you have a CMS-qualified registry to help you through the process, you wouldn’t have to worry about a thing. They will do it for you.
And for the rest, let’s follow through on this year’s performance intricacies.
Quarter 1: January 2025 – March 2025
Officially, the performance year has begun. This is when MIPS 2025 eligible clinicians can start working on their Quality measures.
It’s also the time when you can easily sit with your Qualified Registry and analyze your current with standing. Might be your practice is already doing great. Might be you need to improve. So, it’s better to start early.
Moreover, January 2025 also signals the MIPS 2024 data submission window. Whatever method or vendor you choose, make sure you’re getting ready to make the progress.
In February 2025, CMS (The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid) releases 2025 performance thresholds for Quality outcomes.
It facilitates MIPS 2025 eligible clinicians and their registries to review or revisit MIPS Quality measures. In addition, experts can see what measures are good to work and report.
During the early days of March 2025, claim-based submissions are supposed to be submitted. And, toward the end of the month, the data submission window for 2024 closes.
During the first quarter, eligible clinicians can also consider their 180-day performance period for Promoting Interoperability (PI). Unless there is an exception and you want to reweight this category.
Another factor that you have to consider is to plan for HIPAA security risk analysis which is a check for PI category. And, this check is mandatory no matter what.
Quarter 2: April 2025 -June 2025
This quarter marks the start of the registration of MVP (MIPS Value Pathways). This is the reporting protocol to streamline data with bundled measures regarding specific conditions.
It is also to acknowledge that if MIPS 2025 eligible healthcare clinicians report via both methods traditional MIPS and MVP, CMS will reward you with higher points. Keeping in view, this reporting mechanism will be compulsory moving forward.
During this tenure, QPP hardship and Promoting Interoperability (PI) exception applications also are available.
MIPS 2024 final scores also are declared. Moreover, after the release of the final score, MIPS targeted review submission period windows open. The time frame is 30 days before the payment adjustments are released.
A tip here is if you haven’t started on your PI submission yet, Q2 is the perfect time to do that. Also, take necessary actions such as figuring out HIPAA risk analysis. Work on quality measures. Decide what Improvement Activities (IA) you should work on.
Quarter 3: July – September 2025
Now, this is the time when you strictly have to start working on the 180-day PI category. Considering, this frame is the only time allowing consistent efforts.
However, the good news, not every medical practice has to report PI data. For Instance, small practice, ASC-based, hospital-based, and non-patient-facing.
Another thing that happens is the release of the proposed rules of MIPS 2026. They have a 60-day period asking relevant stakeholders to submit comments. CMS does make changes based on these comments.
Towards the end, the window for targeted reviews gets closed.
Quarter 4: October – December 2025
October marks the last time to start working on 90-day Improvement Activities (IA). Moreover, the period to apply for the hardship rules is completed.
Eligible healthcare MIPS 2025 practitioners can also check their final eligibility during this tenure, and the MIPS 2025 performance period ends.
Conclusion
MIPS 2025 deadlines sure seem like a hassle but when associated with the CMS Qualified Registry, everything gets easy. Hopefully, this article helps.
